Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you used a computer? "What is a hard drive, where did my paper go?" Back then, I feared technology. Now, I embrace it, and I want my students to love technology. However, it's challenging because most of my students do not have computers or web access at home.

Most of my students are considered economically disadvantaged, so our school provides free breakfast and lunch.

Funds are limited and budgets are tight. However, I strive to instill in them a desire to learn and grow by introducing reading, math, and technology in fun, creative and non-threatening ways. I truly believe that technology opens doors for students, and my students are ripe for learning, and embracing all that it has to offer.

My Project

An interactive Mimio system is such an amazing educational tool! There are so many learning opportunities that exist. Anytime a teacher asks a question, each and every student has a remote to respond = maximum class participation! When we review for an upcoming test, each student can provide input into what they think the answer is. If most select the right answer, then we can celebrate! If most select the wrong answer, then the teacher can address the misunderstanding right then and there. Each and every student can be tracked quickly and privately for their progress, real time feedback! The possibilities are absolutely endless. This tool is so powerful, I am asking for a set to be dedicated for whole school use (for many of my former students too). What tool helps teach interactively? Survey says: Mimiovote!

A MimioVote system is a fabulous tool to introduce technology!

This project would allow almost every student at my site, access to this system. Donor stars like you are so important to classrooms and schools like ours. While many projects receive parental donations, this is not the case with most high poverty neighborhoods. THANK YOU from our future IT professionals and engineers in training.
