My Students

How do you keep students more engaged? Integrate technology. A document projector will make a huge difference in my teaching by making it easier to engage my students in their learning.

We are a third grade classroom in a K-5 Expeditionary Learning school located in the outskirts of a small city in Maine.

We are a resettlement community, thus our population is comprised of 1/3 English Language Learners and 2/3 of of our population comes from low income households.

My Project

A document projector is an essential tool in any classroom. Displaying science experiments or demonstrating how something works so all can view it "up close" is ideal. The document camera allows teachers to project any document. By having the ability to project a student's work, I can allow students to provide feedback to each other. Reading a picture book so all can see the illustrations is also very helpful. A document camera will also support math class. When I use manipulatives on a math worksheet, the entire class will be able to see what I am teaching. Students will also be able to follow along as I model algorithms or explain directions.

Supporting this project to get a document camera for my classroom will make a huge difference in my teaching, making it easier to engage my students in their learning by making learning come alive for all, as well as allowing those with back row seats to have front row visibility.
