This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to paint with old, worn out brushes? It can ruin your painting experience when the hairs fall out and get stuck in your painting! My young artists are in need of some new brushes!

My students are absolutely wonderful.

I teach kindergarten through 5th grade Art in Nevada. We are a Title 1 school, which means the students are very high need. While they may be high need, they are fabulous, courteous, and creative. They absolutely love Art, especially when they get the chance to paint or do clay projects.

My Project

Right now, the brushes we have are very old and worn out. The bristles are always falling out of the brushes and getting stuck in the paintings, and many times, the ferrules (the metal part that attaches the bristles to the sticks) fall off altogether. Having brushes that work is key to making a successful painting. With good brushes, my students will be able to paint without pieces of other things getting stuck in their work. This will make them feel better about their painting experiences and give them an opportunity to really focus on the joy of creative expression.

This project is very important because brushes are such an essential supply.

The use of brushes develops coordination, motor skills, and creativity. Having the opportunity to create successful artwork help students boost their self esteem and creativity. creativity is a skill that students really need to develop as they will need it when they are solving the problems of the future.
