This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a physical education teacher at a Pennsylvania public K-8 school. The school is located in a low economic neighborhood with 95 % low income and about 95 % of students get free or reduced lunch. This is a title one school.

This school was built in 2007 to ease overcrowding at another neighborhood school in Pennsylvania.

The school was supposed to open up with 800 students. The school now has over 1,000 students. The school opened in September 2007 short of teachers and materials. It opened up with just one class in the gym, now in February 2010 there are two. That means we see 400 students a day. That is why we need more gym and safety equipment to keep students active and safe.

My Project

The resource I am asking for is a 600 piece first aid kit that will be hung up in the gym office and 4 cases of instant ice packs This first aid kit and ice packs will allow the Physical Education teachers (who are CPR/AED and first aid certified) to treat the minor injuries that occur in the gym. This will allow the school nurse to focus on her mandatory Health screenings. The last resource is for 1 travel first aid kit to take with for sports or field trips. The last thing you want to happen is a student gets hurt and you have no way of treated that child. It could be something minor like a cut on a finger or a bloody nose or something more serious.

Your help is needed.

Physical Education is not getting funded like it should. Schools are not getting funded like they should. That is why I need your help to get these first Aid kits for the safety of my students. I take my job as a Physical Educator serious. I cannot do it alone. Thank you
