I am a middle school French teacher and teach grades 6, 7 and 8. I have 140 students of varying ages, abilities, social and economic backgrounds and several English language learners. One of the most rewarding parts of my day is when I get to guide my sixth graders in wide reading also known as sustained silent reading.

The obstacle that my wide reading students face is our lack of books. I have had to purchase the majority of young adult literature in my classroom. I often need to send my students to the library to find reading materials but with a large school many books are already signed-out. I have many activities planned with my students such as read-alouds, reader's theater, playwriting, but without the much needed supplies these activities are hard to plan and produce.

I need a selection of quality reading materials that will help hook my reluctant readers. There is nothing more valuable than giving the gift of a well-loved book and story.

Your help will ensure that my students will be able to have a diverse reading and lending library. My students will be able to perform skits, read quietly when wanted, and allow their imaginations to flourish and run wild to far off lands. Please help give my students the gift of knowledge they deserve and need.
