I teach sixth grade science in a rural school outside of a small city. My school is located in a high-need community. My students often lack experiences and opportunities that would encourage them to adopt a science career.

My students have very "bright" futures ahead of them. I want to be able to provide a hands-on experience for them and get them excited about alternative energy. Alternative energy is and will be part of their future. Providing an opportunity to learn science through alternative energy will encourage them to pursue higher level science classes in high school and provide them with some job training.

We will use the solar panels to build solar powered motors. By building their own working alternative energy source, the students will begin to open their eyes to the possibilities of being independent from fossil fuels. Renewable energy is the way of the future and I want my kids to be prepared.

You can make it possible for my students to wake up to the world of renewable energy and introduce them to future career options that might just change the world.
