Students have been outside for reading time and quiz reviews. It was a great way to break up activities that students may see as monotonous. The Outdoor Classroom has also been great for student collaboration. Students like being able to move to their own space and share a yoga mat with a partner or two and brainstorm on the whiteboards. It seems being outside helps with their creativity and really thinking outside the box. \r\n\r\nWe were out of school just two weeks ago for snow but tomorrow is going to be warm and students have asked if we can have our reading time outside. My students absolutely love Manga style novels. The books are so popular I keep them on a cart in the back and bring them out during class checkouts because if left on the shelf they will on occasion \"just walk away\". I was concerned at first that keeping them separate would cause them not to circulate as much but the kids seem to like having a special cart just for My Hero Academia!\r\n\r\nI have a few students have read the entire series of 37 plus books. One student who checked out zero books last year has checked 46 this year. On days he came to the library to check out My Hero Academia and it wasn't available, he would get something else to hold him over. These books were a gateway for him and now he really enjoys the library. \r\n\r\nWe have some students who read the books periodically and in no particular order but we have about 7 kids who have dedicated themselves to reading the whole series in order and they are reading more than ever and making frequent trips to the library.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for these books. They have really made an impact on my middle schoolers.
