In North Carolina, earth science is a class all students must pass in order to graduate. Around 59% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. They live in a high-need community but my students' needs are basic. They need a functional classroom which can help in their learning process. The more time my students spend on-task the better their retention of the curriculum so they are able to graduate and attend college, our goal.

Budgets are limited and must be shared throughout the school. Sometimes what a teacher wants for her students becomes low on the priority list due to the needs of all teachers. I need for my students to be prepared quickly to do work every day. They are preparing for their future. Mechanical pencil sharpeners become clogged and are often difficult to replace.

I want to ensure my students can become ready for instruction quickly every day by having a high volume pencil sharpener available for my hard working freshmen. The high volume pencil sharpener will enable my students to quickly sharpen pencils and get back to learning science. I am also requesting some basic pencils to be able to lend my students when they do not have one.

Please help me to prepare my student for their future by providing a high volume pencil sharpener for their classroom along with some lending pencils.
