Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hunger doesn’t wait until lunchtime, and neither does learning. Many of my students come to class distracted, tired, or anxious simply because they haven’t had enough to eat. A small snack can make a powerful difference in their ability to focus, participate, and believe they belong in our classroom.

This project will help me create and maintain a classroom snack cabinet stocked with student-approved snacks that are available when students need them most.

Whether it’s first thing in the morning, during a long class period, or after a tough day, students will know there is a safe, judgment-free place where their basic needs are met.

When students aren’t worried about hunger, they are more willing to read aloud, collaborate with classmates, and take academic risks. A snack isn’t just food; it’s fuel for confidence, connection, and learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
