Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child deserves to come to school feeling clean, confident, and ready to learn. For many of my students, however, access to basic hygiene products is not something they can take for granted. Items like deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, menstrual products, and other personal care essentials are sometimes unavailable at home, leaving students to worry about their basic needs instead of focusing on their education.

To help meet this need, I am creating a rolling hygiene cart filled with essential personal care items that students can access discreetly and with dignity.

The cart will include deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, hair ties, scrunchies, menstrual pads, wipes, and hand sanitizer. Having these supplies readily available will allow students to care for themselves without embarrassment or having to go without.

Although this cart will be housed in my classroom, it will serve as a shared resource for neighboring classrooms as well. By making these essentials available to more students, we can create a school environment where children feel supported, respected, and prepared to succeed.

When students' basic needs are met, they are better able to participate in class, build positive relationships, and focus on learning. Your generosity will help remove barriers that many students face each day while reminding them that they are valued, cared for, and worthy of every opportunity to thrive.
