My Project

My students are creative, curious, and excited to discover all the possibilities that music has to offer. They come to class ready to learn, try new things, and express themselves through sound. Last school year, with the help of generous donors, I was able to set up piano labs at all 3 schools in which I teach. This allowed me to start giving my students beginner piano lessons. As they continue developing their piano skills, I want to give them opportunities to explore how those skills can transfer to new instruments and real-world musical experiences.

A keytar will give my students the chance to take their learning beyond the piano bench and experience music in a whole new way.

The keytar and amplifier will allow students to explore a modern, portable keyboard instrument while building confidence, creativity, and performance skills. These resources will help them make connections between what they already know about the piano and new ways they can create and share music with others.

My goal for this project is to inspire students to see themselves as musicians and to encourage a lifelong love of music. By giving them access to new instruments and experiences, I hope to spark their imagination, strengthen their musical abilities, and show them that music can move with them wherever they go.
