My Project

In a day and age where everything is on a screen, it is still essential to get books into children's hands. My students are eager to learn but may not be as eager to independently read. This is why I am creating this project to target literacy in the areas of fluency, engagement, and comprehension.

Books truly let you travel without ever having to move your feet.

Our school is a Title One school which means that 100% of our students live in households with incomes at or below the poverty line. There may not be opportunities to explore outside of their community or understand and engage in historical events. This project is for books that will build background knowledge, help with fluency, and engage students. Students will use the pouches to store sight word flashcards and the folders to hold their book reports to show comprehension. Our goal is to build stamina, increase fluency and background knowledge to show comprehension. These life skills will help ensure they are properly prepared for the future. We wish to have your support.
