-This giving page is in honor of my little brother, Abhay. He passed away three years ago on March 13, 2018. He was only 22.- Abhay's name means "fearless". Abhay was the kindest and most generous person I have ever known. He wanted to help everyone. We want to honor his memory by giving back. Abhay was bullied relentlessly in middle school. Our family is Indian. Students would make airplane noises when he would walk by. They would call him towel head. Abhay kept all of this a secret from us. We had no idea until many years later. We couldn't fight for him when all of this was happening to him. This bullying changed the entire trajectory of his life. Would things have been different if Abhay had had an advocate at school? --The Abhay Project's giving page will focus on teachers who understand the importance of teaching inclusivity, racial justice, and representation in the classroom. We will be looking for teachers who truly love ALL students - immigrant kids, refugee kids, kids of color, neurodivergent kids, DACA kids, LGBTQ+ kids, and every other child who needs their teacher to advocate for them.-- hide
