Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first-grade students are eager to become confident readers and writers. The Secret Stories program helps young learners remember tricky phonics patterns by pairing them with engaging stories and memorable visuals. These stories make abstract spelling rules meaningful, helping students decode unfamiliar words and improve their reading fluency.

Many letter combinations make unexpected sounds, which can be difficult for young learners to understand and remember.

Secret Stories is a research-based, multisensory phonics resource that helps students unlock these "secret" sounds through engaging stories, visuals, and memorable learning experiences.

By bringing Secret Stories into our classroom, students will have access to powerful tools that make phonics instruction fun, meaningful, and effective. The stories help children quickly connect letters and sounds, improving their decoding, spelling, reading fluency, and writing skills. This resource supports all learners, including struggling readers, English language learners, and students who benefit from visual and auditory learning strategies.

Funding for Secret Stories will provide my students with engaging literacy resources that build confidence, increase reading success, and foster a lifelong love of learning. With these tools, students will be better equipped to tackle challenging words independently and develop the strong foundational literacy skills they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
