My Project

I am requesting breakfast foods and snack items that can be safely stored in my classroom and offered to students throughout the school day, including: Kellogg’s breakfast cereals and Pop-Tarts for quick morning nutrition Goldfish crackers, CHIPS AHOY! cookies, and Frito-Lay variety chips for structured snack times Capri Sun 100% juice pouches to support hydration and energy

These items allow me to provide consistent, familiar foods that many of my students will accept, which is especially important for children with sensory sensitivities and food aversions.

I believe strongly in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which emphasizes that children must have their basic needs—such as food and safety—met before they can focus on learning, social interaction, and self-regulation.

Some of my students arrive at school hungry due to family circumstances beyond their control. Hunger can lead to meltdowns, shutdowns, lack of focus, and difficulty participating in instruction. Rather than starting the day at a disadvantage, this project allows me to meet students where they are and help them feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn.

This project is about equity, dignity, and access—making sure every child has what they need to succeed.
