Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students because they are resilient, hardworking, and eager to learn—even when learning feels challenging. I serve students in grades 1–3 who receive special education services in both inclusive classrooms and the resource setting. Each student is unique, but all are working toward goals related to academic growth, emotional regulation, attention, and independence.

The calming canopy will be used in the calm-down corner of the resource classroom to help students safely self-regulate when they feel overwhelmed.

This space allows them to reset, practice coping strategies, and return to learning, ready to participate. Sensory gel beads and play dough provide tactile input that supports emotional regulation, focus, and social-emotional learning, especially during transitions and small-group instruction.

A 4-in-1 printer allows me to quickly print instructional materials, visual supports, and accommodations in the moment, so learning is not interrupted. It also enables me to send materials home and laminate frequently used supports so they remain clean, durable, and easily accessible. Laminating pouches helps preserve visual schedules, behavior supports, and academic tools that my students rely on daily.

Dry-erase boards and markers are essential for students who struggle with writing or copying. These tools reduce anxiety, allow students to practice skills without fear of mistakes, and increase participation. Crayons, glue sticks, and pencils support fine motor development and hands-on learning, while cleaning supplies help maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.

These resources will support both my inclusion and resource classrooms, helping every student access learning in a meaningful, supportive, and inclusive way.
