As a special education teacher, it means so much to have resources that meet the diverse learning needs of my scholars while also making learning engaging, functional, and exciting. Since receiving these materials, my students have already begun using them during our small-group instruction, STEM activities, sensory breaks, and vocational task rotations. One of their favorite activities has been the pizza vocational task, where students practice important life skills such as following directions, matching, counting, communication, and independent work skills in a fun and motivating way. The STEM pixel activities have also become a classroom favorite because students are able to use numbers, patterns, and problem-solving skills to build designs while strengthening focus and fine motor skills.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. Many of them immediately wanted to explore, touch, and interact with everything. Watching their confidence grow as they successfully completed activities independently or with minimal support has been incredibly rewarding. The books have also helped us begin creating a cozy classroom reading corner where students can practice reading, listening, and calming their bodies during sensory or quiet breaks. Having access to these resources allows me to create a classroom environment that feels supportive, engaging, and safe for every learner.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students now have more opportunities to build academic, social, communication, and independent living skills in ways that are meaningful to them. Our next steps include continuing to expand vocational and hands-on learning opportunities, increasing independent work tasks, and developing structured sensory and reading routines that help students remain regulated and successful throughout the school day. Thank you again for investing in my students, believing in their potential, and helping make our classroom a place where every child can learn, grow, and shine.","fullyFundedDate":1771513208707,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-every-learner-every-day/10015555/","projectTitle":"Supporting Every Learner, Every Day!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jenkins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10403249"},{"teacherId":10080799,"projectId":9465979,"letterContent":"Your amazing gift has helped to maintain good attendance in my classroom. With the arrival of the new clothes rack and mail center, my students have officially begun their prevocational training. We are currently using these tools to practice essential life skills, such as sorting, organizing, and following multi-step directions. A standout moment occurred this week when a student, who often finds complex tasks overwhelming, successfully navigated the mail center to \"deliver\" items to the correct slots. The sense of accomplishment they felt while mastering a \"real-world\" job was truly invaluable.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived was filled with pure joy and excitement. When the students saw the treasure box being replenished and realized their favorite candies were back in stock, the shift in motivation was immediate. They were eager to dive into their lessons, knowing that their hard work would be recognized and rewarded. Seeing their faces light up as they explored the new \"work stations\" made it clear that these aren't just supplies to them—they are symbols of a community that believes in their potential and wants them to succeed.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our next step is to integrate these resources into a daily \"Work Jobs\" rotation. Students will take on specific responsibilities, like managing the laundry rack or sorting classroom mail, to earn \"pay\" for the treasure box. We are even planning a project where students will use their mail center skills to distribute internal notes to other classrooms in the building. Before this project, students often faced challenges when they needed printed materials for assignments, revisions, assessments, or small-group instruction. Many students did not have reliable access to printing at home and had to rely on shared school resources that were not always available when needed. With a printer available directly in the classroom, students were able to access materials quickly and consistently, allowing instruction to run more smoothly and equitably.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful outcomes of this project was the increase in student independence and confidence. Students were able to revise and reprint their work as needed, which encouraged accountability and pride in their academic efforts. Having immediate access to printing allowed students to take academic risks, knowing they could correct mistakes and improve their work without unnecessary obstacles. This autonomy fostered stronger organizational skills and helped students develop a greater sense of ownership over their learning.\r\n\r\n\r\nOverall, the addition of a classroom printer strengthened instruction, increased efficiency, and empowered students by providing them with a reliable and essential learning tool. Its impact extended beyond convenience—it supported academic growth, promoted equity, and reinforced a sense of confidence and independence among students. This project has helped create a learning environment where students are better prepared, more engaged, and supported in reaching their full potential.","fullyFundedDate":1706120592167,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-education-bridging-the-digit/8126808/","projectTitle":"Empowering Education: Bridging the Digital Divide through Student Printer Access","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8571178_orig.jpg?crop=827,827,x0,y154&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659659330504","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8571178"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16229","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":403,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":78,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"1 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":16229,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ralph G Goodman Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ralph G Goodman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/aldine-independent-school-district/ralph-g-goodman-elementary-school/16229"}
