Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students will explore the art of reduction printmaking while learning how this powerful art form connects to history and communication. Through this project, students will develop new artistic techniques, including carving, layering colors, and creating multiple prints from a single block. They will discover how printmaking has been used throughout history to share ideas, document events, and make information accessible, including its important role in newspapers and visual storytelling.

These materials will give my students the opportunity to experience the creative process of professional printmakers while building confidence, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for the connection between art and history.

By creating their own reduction prints, students will not only make meaningful artwork but also understand how artists have helped shape the way people communicate and preserve stories.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
