Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school, Immokalee Technical College (iTECH), serves a unique, rural population in the heart of the Florida Everglades. My students are motivated high school juniors and seniors concurrently enrolled in Computer Systems Information Technology (CSIT) and Applied Cybersecurity. These pre-professionals are training for high-stakes tech careers while facing geographic and economic barriers to advanced technology. By bringing this equipment here, we are providing "innovation equity," ensuring our rural students have the same competitive edge as those in major tech hubs, empowering them to lead and secure the future of their own community.

In our CSIT and Cybersecurity programs, students master code and secure networks, but they need a physical "endpoint" to apply these skills.

This robotic arm will be that endpoint serving as the foundational building block of our brand-new iTech AI Innovation Lab. This lab is a collaborative hub for our entire campus. Our Machining and Manufacturing students will study precision automation; Transportation and Heavy Equipment students will explore autonomous diagnostics; and our Accounting students will analyze the efficiency data generated by AI workflows and inventory control systems. Students will treat this arm as a critical IoT device, practicing "system hardening" to protect industrial robotics from cyber threats. This project isn't just about moving a robotic arm; it’s about securing the automated infrastructure of tomorrow.

Your support fuels a cross-disciplinary revolution at iTech. By funding this foundational piece of the AI Innovation Lab, you are helping bridge the gap between theoretical cybersecurity and practical, hands-on engineering. My students will leave this program with a rare and high-demand skill set: the ability to both program and protect autonomous systems. Your donation doesn't just buy a kit; it builds the environment where the next generation of rural Florida’s security experts and AI developers will be forged.
