Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to integrate both history and kinetic movement with a little challenge along the way. I have a lot of energetic and curious students, and I'm always thinking of ways to make learning fun and engaging. So if I could add history and intrigue, why not get yo-yos!?

I'm teaching Filipino American History Month and want to teach the history of the yo-yo, but I have one yo-yo, and I know it will be more motivating to be able to get a class set so everyone can practice their own.

I hope to use it as a motivation to learn the history of the yo-yo and use it as a choice for early finishers and free time. I will also allow students to use their learning experiences of a growth mindset to come up with film projects every year.
