My Project

In my self-contained classroom, my students are working hard every day to develop foundational reading skills, social understanding, and a love for learning. Many of my students have autism and other learning differences, and they benefit greatly from highly engaging, relatable, and visually supportive texts. Access to a variety of books that reflect their interests and experiences helps increase motivation, build comprehension, and strengthen communication skills. These resources will support differentiated instruction, small group learning, and independent reading, while also encouraging positive behaviors and meaningful connections to text.

This project includes a carefully selected collection of books such as *You Are Extraordinary!

Board Book Collection*, *Scooby-Doo Mini Mysteries* series, *Scooby-Doo Science Adventures*, *Moana’s Big Leap*, *The Little Mermaid*, *The Wild Robot*, *Cat Kid Comic Club Collection*, *The Bad Guys*, *Lunch Lady*, and the *Katie Woo* series, which will be used to build fluency, sequencing, and comprehension skills during guided reading groups. Social-emotional and culturally responsive texts like *My Brother Charlie*, *Charlie Makes a Splash!*, *All My Stripes*, *Hair Love*, *Cornrows*, and *Sulwe* will support identity, self-awareness, and peer connections through read-alouds and discussions. High-interest texts such as *Black Panther*, *SpongeBob Comics*, and other character-based stories will be used as incentives, independent reading choices, and tools to increase engagement and stamina. Together, these materials will help create a structured, inclusive classroom library where every student can find joy and success in reading.
