My Project

Many of our students and families celebrate Lunar New Year, and each year we spend a full month learning about traditions, symbols, and family customs connected to this important holiday. To support this learning in an intentional and accessible way, I am requesting a portable instructional screen that can move with our teaching and family events.

During our month-long Lunar New Year celebration, this screen will be used to model and share visual instructions for hands-on cultural activities.

Students and families will be able to clearly see step-by-step demonstrations of how to make lanterns, decorate red envelopes, and explore traditional foods through age-appropriate cooking tutorials such as dumpling making. The mobile screen allows these lessons to happen at tables and activity stations, keeping learning interactive while ensuring everyone can follow along.

This screen will also serve as a bridge between school and home. During family engagement events, it will allow us to share cultural videos, photos, and demonstrations that reflect our students’ lived experiences. For children, seeing their traditions represented in the classroom builds pride and belonging. For families, it creates a welcoming space where culture is honored and learning is shared together.

With your support, this portable screen will help transform our Lunar New Year celebration into a meaningful, inclusive learning experience, one that blends culture, instruction, and community in ways that are visible, engaging, and accessible to all.
