We are truly grateful for your investment in both our students and our local environment.\r\n\r\nThis February, we used the spreaders to seed an area of land that leads to a feeder creek of the Big Horn River. The seed mix includes six grasses selected for their hardiness, compatibility with the site's soil conditions, and safety for grazing animals. This spring, we will return to monitor germination and growth. If the results are positive, we plan to continue seeding each late winter or early spring, gradually expanding the coverage area as part of our long-term erosion control efforts.\r\n\r\nOur students were thrilled to apply their Environmental Science classroom learning in a real-world setting. The hands-on experience of using the broadcast spreaders has deepened their understanding of conservation practices and strengthened their commitment to protecting our local ecosystem.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps include monitoring the current site, pursuing grant funding this fall to purchase additional seed for winter planting, and continuing the cycle of seeding and assessment to expand our impact. In the coming years, we also hope to apply for larger grants to address a significant erosion site along a cliff bordering the creek.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made this meaningful work possible. Thank you for supporting our students and their dedication to environmental stewardship.","fullyFundedDate":1763490026153,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-heal-the-big-horn-river/9781674/","projectTitle":"Help Us Heal the Big Horn River","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grzybowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10296072"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39571","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":339,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":39571,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Worland High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Worland High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wyoming/washakie-county-school-district-1/worland-high-school/39571"}
