Growing preteens need to fuel their brains. Having a snack available in the afternoon helps students to get through the afternoon. Many students are on free and reduced lunch and not able to have their own snacks, often when students forget their snack at home. I am able to give them one. \r\n\r\nI have found students are able to not have an afternoon drop in effort when they arw given a quick break and snack in the afternoon. During this time, we also watch a 10 monitor current events video for students. First, it helps meet basic needs. Kids are hungry often. I allow students to bring a snack but sometimes they forget, don't have anything at home, or just are extra hungry that day. Kids are kids, they should not have to worry about going hungry. Second, it shows my students that people care about them. It helps them to push through the long academic minutes. This project has already had a profound impact on our classroom environment and the students' ability to focus on their personalized learning tasks. The ability to minimize external distractions has been a game-changer. It has allowed me to seamlessly implement small-group instruction without worrying about disturbing the rest of the class who are working on other assignments. The headphones are helping students manage their own learning space and has led to a noticeable improvement in concentration and productivity across the board.\r\n\r\nThe student reaction to receiving these headphones was truly heartwarming and speaks volumes about the value of your support. They were absolutely thrilled. Furthermore, the sleek design ensures students are not embarrassed to wear them, which is a huge factor in consistent use. Students also implemented a classroom job to ensure the headphones are regularly cleaned and ready for the next student who will be using them. I was happy to see this as it shows students taking ownership of managing the new devices to keep them nice.","fullyFundedDate":1754829826191,"projectUrl":"project/creating-calm-and-focus-for-personalized/9264107/","projectTitle":"Creating Calm and Focus for Personalized Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hartley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9966770"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37511","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":646,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.0,"schoolId":37511,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wheatland Center Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wheatland Center Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/wheatland-joint-school-district-1/wheatland-center-elementary-school/37511"}
