Many of them had never worked with high-quality materials before, and it was incredible to watch their confidence grow as they experimented with mixing colors, layering textures, and bringing their ideas to life. One student even said, \"This feels like real artist paint!\" and proudly held up her palette filled with carefully blended shades. The materials made them feel like true artists, which created a sense of ownership and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nWith these supplies, students created landscape paintings that represented what \"home\" feels like to them. Some used mountains or rivers as symbols of peace, while others painted city skylines or sunsets to capture feelings of comfort, belonging, or hope. The symbolism was powerful, and many students opened up about their personal stories while painting, turning the project into both an artistic and emotional experience. Our next steps will be to host a classroom gallery walk where students can share their artwork and the meaning behind it with their peers. This will give them the opportunity to practice presenting their ideas and reflecting on how art can be used as a form of self-expression and storytelling.","fullyFundedDate":1723591685864,"projectUrl":"project/landscapes-of-home/8645191/","projectTitle":"Landscapes of Home","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Heiden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7953988_orig.jpg?crop=853,853,x0,y68&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628530991386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7953988"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37956","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":902,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":68.2,"schoolId":37956,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tomah High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tomah High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/tomah-area-school-district/tomah-high-school/37956"}
