When my first graders walked in and saw the bright, individual squares for the first time, they were absolutely thrilled. It has brought a wonderful sense of calm and order to our room. Before this, floor time was often a struggle as students jostled for personal space, but now every child feels settled and comfortable in their own designated spot.\r\n\r\nThis carpet has been a game-changer for our classroom community and student discourse. Because each student has a permanent square, they always know exactly who their \"turn-and-talk\" partners are. This has made our group discussions much more organized and productive; instead of spending time figuring out where to turn, students can immediately share their ideas with their neighbors. We recently used this during a science lesson to discuss our observations, and the transition to partner talk was seamless and quiet.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, this rug will remain the foundation of our daily lessons. Having this organized space allows us to focus entirely on our learning and conversations with one another, rather than on the logistics of where to sit. Thank you for providing my students with such a comfortable, structured, and colorful space to gather every day!","fullyFundedDate":1758145803393,"projectUrl":"project/a-special-spot-for-every-1st-grade-learn/9504378/","projectTitle":"A Special Spot for Every 1st Grade Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hassinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4512856_orig.jpg?crop=2022,2022,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753639811366","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4512856"},{"teacherId":6705341,"projectId":9613798,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! This rug has instantly become the heart of our classroom, creating a designated, cozy, and inspiring area for all of our small-group lessons.\r\n\r\nWe use the rug multiple times a day! It's the setting for our classroom meetings, our small group reading lessons, and our small group math lessons. This new space provides a soft, comfortable place to sit and has helped define the learning zone, leading to more focused and engaged students during instruction.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a significant, daily difference in our students' comfort, engagement, and learning environment.
