Ozobots are an awesome beginning coding robot for a classroom.\r\n\r\nI used a resource from the Ozobot website resources that provide us a track. We then used different codes to have our Ozobot follow a path with a 30 sec timer to view different landforms we learned about in a lesson. Students used blue, red, black and green markers to make squares in certain patterns on the black track. The patterns could cause the Ozobot to speed up and slow down. The new carpets have become central to our daily routines and learning. Our whole-group carpet is now the heart of our classroom. This is where we gather for whole group instruction. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw both carpets, their faces absolutely lit up. They walked around touching the soft texture, pointing out the colors and designs. The second carpet has completely changed our reading area and calm-down center. Students now choose this space during independent reading because it feels cozy and inviting, and several have used it to reset their emotions during tough moments.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our literacy and math lessons, these carpets will play a huge role in helping students stay focused, collaborate, and engage more deeply in their learning. The calm-down center gives students a structured, comfortable space to regulate their emotions. Thank you for giving my students a classroom that truly feels like a place designed for them. These games will be fun for students who do not participate and are ready to wait and cheer on participants and for those who are done early and need some entertainment.\r\nOur prizes that we have for participants include chapstick and chapstick holders, bookmarks, and hand lotions.
