When children plant seeds, care for garden beds, and observe daily changes, they build a concrete understanding of life cycles, weather, and environmental responsibility. This hands-on work strengthens their independence and executive functioning as they follow multi-step tasks, care for living things, and see the direct results of their efforts. The garden also supports focus and regulation, offering natural sensory experiences that help students stay calm, engaged, and connected to the learning environment.\r\nWorking together in a shared garden space fosters collaboration, communication, and a strong sense of community. Students learn to problem-solve, share responsibilities, and celebrate successes as a team—from sprouting seeds to harvesting food or observing pollinators. These experiences build confidence and pride as children realize they are capable of contributing to something real and meaningful. A school garden becomes more than an outdoor classroom; it becomes a place where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally through purposeful, hands-on work.","fullyFundedDate":1760703638835,"projectUrl":"project/tools-to-grow/9788623/","projectTitle":"Tools to Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Russo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6744094_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1652932530403","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6744094"},{"teacherId":7040508,"projectId":9256066,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to my Donors Choose project, \"Storytelling at Its Finest,\" so that I could purchase blank comic books for my lower elementary public Montessori students! \r\n\r\nThe blank books have several different styles of storyboards that will help spark an interest in my students storytelling abilities.\r\n\r\nWe work on one story element at a time, starting with setting.
