This led to frequent disagreements and distractions, making it difficult to maintain a calm and focused learning environment. Since adding the rug, it has completely transformed the way we gather and learn together. Each student now has their own clearly defined space, and because every circle is the same color, there is no competition or conflict over where to sit. This has been especially helpful as we continue to practice \"bubble space\" and respect for personal boundaries—skills that are so important in kindergarten.\r\n\r\nThe rug has quickly become the heart of our classroom. It sits in front of our touchscreen board, making it the perfect spot for whole-group lessons, but it's just as valuable during small group work, read-alouds, math games, and purposeful play. Students are more comfortable sitting, kneeling, and working together, which allows them to stay engaged for longer periods of time. It has also supported our learning in fun and meaningful ways—especially during our study of shapes, when we connected the circles on the rug to two-dimensional figures. The excitement and joy the students showed when they first saw the rug was unforgettable, and that enthusiasm continues every day.\r\n\r\nAs we move through the final months of the school year, our kindergarteners are making incredible progress in both reading and math. We are working on digraphs, early reading skills, counting, and addition, and the rug has provided a consistent and welcoming space for these important learning moments. It has helped create a sense of structure, comfort, and community in our classroom. This simple addition has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for the opportunity it has given our students to learn, grow, and thrive together.","fullyFundedDate":1766050944918,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-rug-where-we-can-learn-share/9911542/","projectTitle":"Classroom Rug: Where We Can Learn, Share, and Shine","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brennan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10351625_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763220401075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/payton-brennan"},{"teacherId":10351625,"projectId":9911330,"letterContent":"Many of our donors use technology at home, but may not always see how powerful it can be in a classroom like mine. Thanks to a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I was able to purchase a specialized math curriculum designed specifically for students with limited communication and nonverbal learners in a self-contained setting. This resource has truly transformed math instruction for my lower communication and lower math students. For the first time, I was able to clearly see progress in number identification, counting, and overall confidence. The lessons are intentionally structured to set students up for success instead of guessing, and the consistent routine helped them feel secure and capable. One of my favorite parts is an interactive sliding \"window\" tool that helps students focus on one problem at a time and simply point to the correct number. That small design feature made math more accessible and reduced overwhelm, allowing every student to participate.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is watching their confidence grow. Students who once struggled to recognize numbers began pointing them out during our regular math lessons without prompting. They proudly identified numbers they had worked on and even answered questions correctly because they could finally recognize them. There is a section where I mix up three numbers and try to \"trick\" them into finding the focus number — they think it's a game and love proving they can get it right! The curriculum is also visually engaging and aesthetically appealing, which keeps them interested and motivated.\r\n\r\nThe remaining funds allowed me to purchase independent math centers for my higher learners, ensuring math is accessible and engaging for all ability levels. While I work one-on-one with students who need intensive support, my other students are meaningfully engaged in challenging, hands-on activities. Because of your generosity, I can reach every learner in my classroom. When I told my students that someone donated this resource for them, they immediately asked how they could say thank you. Your support has truly made a lasting impact on their confidence, independence, and love for learning math","fullyFundedDate":1764454267737,"projectUrl":"project/math-made-accessible-supporting-my-limi/9911330/","projectTitle":"Math Made Accessible: Supporting My Limited Communication Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brennan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10351625_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763220401075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/payton-brennan"},{"teacherId":7274756,"projectId":9708773,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation. One bin is designed for exploration, and it has quickly become a favorite, especially for students with limited communication. They enjoy finding different sea animals in the sand, sharing the names of the animals, and sorting them by color and size. It's amazing to see them engaged and confident, choosing this activity on their own rather than as an assigned task. Another activity that has been a huge hit is the \"hidden letters\" game. Whether in sand or another sensory medium, students search for letters and then match them on magnetic boards. Our higher learners are challenged even further by searching for specific letters to spell words, then sounding them out into complete words. It's hands-on learning that combines fun with literacy and fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nThe students' reactions the first time they saw the materials were priceless! At first, they weren't sure what was inside the containers, and you could see their curiosity build as I opened them. The excitement was tangible—they remembered when we had small tins of kinetic sand that were harder to share, and now they were thrilled to have a larger, more manageable bin that they could explore together. Some students even suggested creative ways to use the bins based on their heights (having one bin for standing at and one for sitting), showing how invested they are in the experience. Seeing their eyes light up when we received the gift was priceless.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are building on these successes as our students continue to develop their literacy and math skills. In reading, students are now confidently identifying sounds and letters, sounding out words, and even tackling decoding tasks with increasing independence. The sensory bins support all of our learners in this growth, from emerging communicators to higher-level readers. In math, our new curriculum is already showing gains. I'm excited to try math related concepts within these sensory bins as well. Thank you for helping my students learn and grow in ways that are engaging, multisensory, and just plain fun!","fullyFundedDate":1763647809564,"projectUrl":"project/a-sensory-space-to-support-every-learner/9898579/","projectTitle":"A Sensory Space to Support Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brennan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10351625_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763220401075","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/payton-brennan"},{"teacherId":7274756,"projectId":9857437,"letterContent":"As much as we dread having to use these items, it is reassuring to know that they are available if we do need them. \r\n\r\nLockdowns can happen at anytime and since our classroom doesn't have access to a bathroom or any private areas to use the restroom the buckets, privacy tents, and flashlights will help us immensely.
