Students were delighted to have so many materials to work with. The clay and the puffy pom poms were favorites, followed by the feathers. I noticed that students put much more effort into their work when they were able to embellish their buildings.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, it was difficult for them to remember to save some for the other classes. They were so excited to figure out how to use the tissue paper for leaves on the trees of our town, and to use the pom poms to represent smoke from factories or bushes. One student who does not normally participate made a garden of pom pom flowers! He was so proud of it that he insisted on getting it back after the Terrace Town event last weekend.\r\n\r\nNow that Terrace Town is finished, we are taking a much-needed Spring Break. Once the fourth quarter of the school year starts, we will be embarking on a community service project. We will first decide what form our project will take, and who it will help. After that, we will complete the steps of our project. It may be as local as working in our community garden, or a little bit further from school, like making blankets for an animal shelter.","fullyFundedDate":1764786279888,"projectUrl":"project/civic-engagement-and-urban-planning-in-m/9938629/","projectTitle":"Civic Engagement and Urban Planning in Miniature","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Angela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3916944"},{"teacherId":10276295,"projectId":9752633,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to the Husky Makeover project. The new resources have brought creativity and joy to our makerspace classroom. \r\n The magna tiles and keva plank materials have been used extensively during our current design process unit. With the new marble run materials, students have been able to work together to create larger models. These building materials have been enjoyed by students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The playdough and new tools have been popular as well, especially with our younger students. The perler beads have been used extensively by our older students. \r\n As we use our new tools, we have taken time to understand how to take care of our supplies, so students will be able to enjoy them for many years to come. We have also had conversations about being grateful for being a part of a caring and giving community. \r\n Having quality resources has allowed students to create, imagine, design, and work together.
