The new rotating bookshelf and acrylic book display stands have helped us showcase books in a way that immediately catches students' attention and encourages them to explore new genres and authors.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were thrilled. As we assembled the spinning bookshelf, they eagerly sorted and organized books, discussing which titles should be featured on the display stands. One memorable moment was watching students who don't typically gravitate toward independent reading stop to browse the featured books and excitedly add new titles to their reading lists.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using these resources during our independent and partner reading block boo, home reading bags, and recommendation activities. The rotating bookshelf allows students to easily access books from all sides, while the display stands highlight seasonal, student-recommended, and high-interest titles. This has sparked more conversations about books and increased excitement around reading.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue using these resources as part of our reading workshop model. They are preparing book talks and creating recommendation displays for their classmates, helping to build a strong reading community within our classroom. We are also planning to rotate themed book collections throughout the year to keep students engaged and encourage them to discover new favorites.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us create a classroom environment where books are celebrated and reading is an adventure. Your support is making a lasting impact on our students' love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1772400399819,"projectUrl":"project/maximizing-space-maximizing-reading/10089600/","projectTitle":"Maximizing Space, Maximizing Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3681441_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763851934589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3681441"},{"teacherId":3681441,"projectId":9329806,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my first- and second-grade students are learning in ways that are more engaging, independent, and empowering than ever before. The new headphones with microphones and bench seating have completely transformed our classroom and made an enormous difference in our daily routines.\r\n\r\nThis year brought big changes for our little school. Due to staffing and enrollment shifts, I began teaching two grade levels instead of one. Managing two sets of standards, lessons, and learners each day has been both a joy and a challenge—and that's where your donation has truly been a lifesaver. The headphones have allowed my students to stay engaged and focused while I work directly with the other grade.\r\n\r\nMany people use technology at home, but in a classroom setting, it becomes an essential bridge for equity, access, and personalized learning. I pre-record directions and model assignments so that students can replay them through their headphones as needed, allowing every child to hear consistent guidance no matter when they're working. This helps me run a smoother, more independent classroom while ensuring all students can learn at their own pace.\r\n\r\nWe also use the headphones during fluency practice each week. Students learn a new poem, pay attention to punctuation and phonics patterns, and on Fridays record themselves reading aloud. They then listen back to track their growth in Words Correct Per Minute (WCPM) and discuss strategies for improvement. The pride they feel when they hear their own confident voices is priceless—several students even asked if they could record extra readings at home \"just for fun!\"\r\n\r\nOur Seesaw platform has also come alive with the help of this technology. Students record their thinking, take photos of their work, and reflect on their progress. Even something as routine as our weekly spelling tests has become more interactive and accessible—students listen carefully to my recorded words, check their accuracy, and build accountability for their learning.\r\n\r\nThe bench seating has been just as impactful. Students eagerly choose the benches for partner reading, group discussions, or math practice. They love the flexibility of sitting together in a comfortable space, and the extra storage underneath helps keep our ever-growing classroom library organized and easy to access. It has truly brightened our room and created a sense of shared learning space.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, these materials have given every student a chance to succeed. A few learners who once hesitated to read aloud now feel safe practicing privately with their microphones. Others who needed repeated directions can independently re-listen without frustration. The confidence and independence these tools have built are visible in their daily work and smiles.\r\n\r\nYour support made this all possible. Because of you, I've been able to meet the diverse needs of two grade levels, keep students deeply engaged, and give them new ways to express their learning. Our classroom feels more connected, creative, and confident than ever.","fullyFundedDate":1747069732337,"projectUrl":"project/sound-space-tools-for-a-focused-and-c/9329806/","projectTitle":"Sound & Space: Tools for a Focused and Cozy Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3681441_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763851934589","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3681441"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":40,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"6.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":56.7,"schoolId":36890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ridgeland - Dallas Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ridgeland - Dallas Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/barron-area-school-district/ridgeland-dallas-elementary-school/36890"}
