The Regency stools and Gaiam Stay N' Play Balance Balls that I am requesting for my students, will allow them to reach their utmost potential. Upon getting these seats, we will ditch the desks and make more room for learning. First graders are balls of energy and we now know that traditional classroom layouts are not best practice for our young ones. In these first few days of school as a first year teacher, I've done my best to accommodate my active students' needs. We consistently take Go Noodle breaks and I allow them to walk and stand during mini lessons, focus lessons, and group activities. But, the desks are getting in the way! With your help, my students will be able to get lost in their favorite book and become the authors and poets their parents always knew they could be, without worrying about tipping their chair over!
Currently, I have three yoga mats and stool seats to help with movement needs, but all of my kids should have these resources to use everyday. Brain research tells us the movement allows oxygen to get to our brains and increases learning. Help us feed our brains!
