Each of these items serves a meaningful purpose in supporting student learning, classroom organization, creativity, and family involvement. The storage bench and containers have been especially helpful in organizing my monthly themed picture books. As we explore a new theme each month, having a designated space to store and display these books makes it easier to keep our classroom library organized, accessible, and inviting for young readers. The containers allow me to neatly organize books by theme so I can quickly find the materials needed to support our lessons and introduce students to new stories, vocabulary, and concepts. The storage benches are also a valuable addition because they provide a comfortable place for students to sit, relax, and even stretch out while enjoying a good book. Creating a cozy reading space encourages students to explore books independently, develop a love of reading, and see books as an enjoyable part of their everyday lives. In kindergarten, building positive reading habits and providing opportunities for students to engage with books is essential to developing early literacy skills. These additions help create a welcoming environment where students can feel comfortable, excited, and motivated to read. The combination of organization and flexible seating allows us to make better use of our classroom space while providing students with an inviting area to learn, explore, and enjoy literature.\r\n\r\nPlay-Doh has also become an important part of our daily classroom routines and is used regularly for both academic learning and fine motor development. While it may seem like a simple classroom supply, Play-Doh provides countless opportunities for hands-on learning that are especially beneficial for kindergarten students. We incorporate it into activities involving letter recognition, letter formation, number recognition, counting, shapes, patterns, and other important academic skills. Students can roll, pinch, flatten, and mold the dough to create letters, numbers, and objects that connect to our lessons. These activities make learning more interactive and enjoyable while helping students strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers. Developing these fine motor skills is essential for building the control needed for writing, cutting, drawing, and other classroom tasks. Play-Doh also encourages creativity, problem-solving, and independence as students experiment with different ways to complete activities. Having this resource available allows me to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that meet the needs of young learners and make practicing important skills fun. Additionally, the donated sublimation mugs will provide an exciting opportunity for a special family project that connects classroom learning with meaningful family involvement. Students will create their own unique picture and write a special message for their families. Their artwork and messages will then be heat-pressed onto the mugs, transforming their creations into personalized keepsakes that families can treasure. This project will allow students to express their creativity, practice drawing and early writing skills, and create something meaningful for the people they love. It will also give families a lasting reminder of their child's kindergarten experience. I am incredibly grateful for these donations because each item provides lasting educational value beyond its original purpose. Together, these resources support literacy, academic growth, fine motor development, creativity, classroom organization, and strong family connections. They help make our kindergarten classroom a more engaging, comfortable, and enriching place for students to learn and grow each day.","fullyFundedDate":1787147817231,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-heartfelt-giving/10445482/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning, Heartfelt Giving","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schmitt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10043116_orig.jpg?crop=1200,1200,x0,y192&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750202873473","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10043116"},{"teacherId":10043116,"projectId":10294744,"letterContent":"The donation of funds to purchase a rainbow table for six students, along with ten comfortable floor seats, has been a wonderful addition to my kindergarten classroom. These resources have made a tremendous difference in our daily classroom environment and have helped me better meet the individual needs of my students. The rainbow table allows both the teacher and teacher's assistant to sit directly with the six students who need additional support during seatwork, instruction, and other classroom activities. Having an adult nearby at all times allows us to provide immediate guidance, encouragement, and assistance whenever it is needed. Rather than waiting for students to raise their hands or ask for help, we can recognize when they are struggling and offer support before they become frustrated or discouraged. At the kindergarten level, many children are still developing the confidence and communication skills needed to express when they do not understand something. By sitting alongside these students, we can repeat directions, model appropriate behaviors, break assignments into smaller steps, and provide gentle reminders to help them remain focused and engaged. This consistent, individualized attention has helped these students feel more confident and successful in their learning. The table has also improved the overall atmosphere of our classroom tremendously. When students receive the support they need, they are better able to stay on task, follow directions, participate in activities, and complete their work. Having a designated space where we can work closely with these students allows us to address their needs proactively while maintaining a more organized, positive, and productive learning environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe ten floor seats have been another valuable addition to our classroom. These seats provide comfortable, flexible seating options for students who enjoy working closer to the ground. Our classroom includes a low clover-shaped table, and the floor seats allow students to sit comfortably while participating in small-group instruction, completing assignments, exploring hands-on learning materials, and collaborating with classmates. Kindergarten students benefit from having different seating choices because they are still developing focus, learning to manage their bodies, and discovering the environments in which they feel most comfortable learning. Providing these options helps create a welcoming, student-centered classroom where children can participate in activities in ways that work well for them. The floor seats also make our low clover table a more inviting space for small-group learning, allowing students to work comfortably while remaining engaged in meaningful educational experiences. Together, the rainbow table and floor seats have helped create a classroom environment that is more supportive, flexible, and responsive to the needs of our young learners. I am incredibly grateful for this generous donation and the positive impact it has made on our classroom. These resources are much more than furniture; they are valuable tools that allow us to provide individualized attention, encourage student independence, improve engagement, and help every child feel supported and capable. This donation has truly been an investment in our students' academic, social, and emotional growth, and its benefits can be seen in our daily classroom routines. It has helped make our kindergarten classroom a place where students feel comfortable, receive the assistance they need, and have the opportunity to learn and succeed every day.","fullyFundedDate":1785876450072,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-flexible-learning-space-for-k/10294744/","projectTitle":"Creating a Flexible Learning Space for Kindergarten Achievement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schmitt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10043116_orig.jpg?crop=1200,1200,x0,y192&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750202873473","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10043116"},{"teacherId":9209428,"projectId":9255813,"letterContent":"Our new grammar curriculum has had a significant impact on our fifth-grade classroom by providing students with engaging, structured lessons that build a strong foundation in language skills. Through daily practice and interactive activities, students have become more confident in identifying parts of speech, using correct grammar conventions, and applying these skills in their writing. The curriculum's clear progression allows students to master one concept before moving to the next, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the English language.\r\n\r\nAs students have grown more confident in their grammar abilities, we have also seen improvements in the quality of their written work. They are using more complete and varied sentence structures, editing their own writing more effectively, and communicating their ideas with greater clarity. These stronger grammar skills have supported success across all subject areas, giving students the tools they need to write thoughtful responses, explain their mathematical reasoning, and communicate scientific observations with accuracy. The curriculum has empowered our students to become more capable, independent writers who are better prepared for future academic success.","fullyFundedDate":1749323590467,"projectUrl":"project/new-grammar-curriculum/9255813/","projectTitle":"New Grammar Curriculum","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kucera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9209428_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693331547644","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9209428"},{"teacherId":8152585,"projectId":9812281,"letterContent":"Thank you so, so much for your donations towards the digital piano. So far we have completed several Science /STEM activities. We have completed creating structures with toothpicks and mini marshmallows and toothpicks and gumdrops. The students had to work with a partner to complete these. It was a great experience of preplanning together and working on a team. They really enjoyed this activity.\r\n\r\nAnother project we tried was building a structure with straws and masking tape that is able to hold a paper cup filled with pennies. Whoever used the most pennies with their structure still standing won. This was hilarious! Once they achieved their goal I allowed them take it a little bit further and they started adding more masking tape and taping the structure to the desk. They got carried away, but had a great time!\r\n\r\nThe final thing we did in class was to make slime. The use of the materials for this would have been costly and I appreciate your contribution. It was messy and they loved it. They were excited that they got to take the slime home once we were finished. I am looking into a better recipe for next year.
