(Seriously: Every. Single. Day!)\r\n\r\nTransition to Kindergarten (TTK) with 4-year-olds is all about learning social skills, school routines, and foundational academic concepts through play and exploration. Of course, that means we make a lot of art! Some of our favorite projects that we've made using the construction paper and cardstock that you helped to provide include giant painted paper spiders, spooky bubble painted cauldrons, tissue paper mosaic fall leaves, and oil pastel gingerbread characters. Projects like these give students the opportunity to express their creativity, explore materials, and have fun while practicing essential skills like following directions, using materials safely, and sharing with others. The paper from this project has helped to bring more art time into our classroom and has made it possible for students to make their creations exactly as they imagine.\r\n\r\nThe large chart paper that you helped to provide is used during lessons to capture and organize student thinking. One of our students' favorite routines is to co-create a chart by illustrating their own idea or response around a given topic on a sticky note that they then get to place on the chart. Students take so much pride in sharing their own ideas and are eager to see and hear from classmates, too. As charts are hung and displayed in the classroom, students are excited to remember past lessons and activities and to point out their contributions (\"Look! Remember when I said I liked that story best?\" \"That one is mine. I love my brother!\") . Looking around and seeing our classroom walls fill up with so much evidence of learning and participation from even our youngest students in school is so impressive.\r\n\r\nThe work we are doing in our classroom would not be possible without your support for this project. These tools have become her go-to for calming down and preparing to face her day.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful gift has provided a much-needed sanctuary for my students, many of whom come from homes filled with instability and uncertainty. The calming cube has given them a safe space to self-regulate and find their calm so they can rejoin the group and fully engage in learning.\r\n\r\nWhat makes the calming cube so impactful is that it teaches my students tools they can use beyond the classroom. They've brought structure to our day, saving us precious instructional time and creating a calmer, more focused learning environment. No more rummaging through backpacks for lost pencils or notebooks—everything is now within easy reach. The students come in ready to learn, and the positive difference is evident in their engagement and confidence.\r\n\r\nYour support, along with the gift from the Windows of Hope Foundation, is more than just a donation—it's an investment in the success of children who will carry this experience with them for a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1729531768926,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-second-graders-stay-organized-wi/8599685/","projectTitle":"Help My Second Graders Stay Organized With Chair Pokets!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cordova","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8481187_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1668516093814","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8481187"},{"teacherId":8481187,"projectId":8599209,"letterContent":"When the pocket seats first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. As soon as we opened the box, my students' faces lit up with joy and curiosity. They were thrilled to see the bright, colorful pockets and couldn't wait to place them on the backs of their chairs. Watching them slide the pockets on and immediately start organizing their supplies was a moment of pure happiness and pride.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, this was the first time they had something that felt truly theirs in the classroom. One student exclaimed, \"I love this! Now I'll always know where my stuff is!\" Another child carefully placed their reading and math packets inside their folders and books inside and proudly said, \"I feel so organized! and I know its mine because my name is on the back\" It was heartwarming to see how much these pockets meant to them, not just as a tool, but as a boost to their confidence and sense of ownership.\r\n\r\nIn our Title I school, where resources are limited, organization has always been a challenge. Before the pocket seats, my students often misplaced their materials, leading to wasted time and unnecessary frustration. Now, every child has a designated space for their belongings, which has made transitions smoother and helped us maximize valuable learning time.
