We were able to organize all our task box, books, supplies and personal belongings! \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited when they came into the class and saw the new organization. They had fun looking at all the pictures on the rug. Play is the work of childhood! \r\nI also use the toys and games to teach our students good sportsmanship. Losing and winning with grace. I use the toys and games to teach anger management, communicating through frustration with peers, and problem solving. We call it 'winning the friendship game.'\r\nFor some students, they need extra motivation to complete challenging academic tasks. Some students struggle with math, reading or especially written language tasks. They may earn reward time with the toys and games after they have done their work. In addition, I use the chairs for flexible seating allowing my wiggly learners a place to land. \r\nThe chairs have helped students remain focused during instruction at carpet time. Students who sit in these chairs are attentive, engaged and ready for learning. My students Kindergarten to fifth grade in my math intervention groups have enjoyed using the math materials purchased, and I was able to get them organized through the storage containers that were bought. My students were excited when they first saw the materials, as if they were shiny new toys at Christmas. It's really wonderful incorporate them to help math come more alive to students.\r\n\r\nI recall how a 5th grade that is a multi-lingual learner and has struggled with his multiplication facts can independently using the 100-bead rack to construct a multiplication fact and helps him to see groups, not just counting by 1. He felt confident in his math facts by using it. It has been very beneficial for my students to have visuals in order for them to make connections with mathematical concepts.\r\n\r\nI will continue to use these materials in my math groups in the present and future.
