The new light table manipulatives have opened up a world of hands-on exploration and creativity that has sparked excitement in every student.\r\n\r\nHow are we using the new resources?\r\n\r\nWe are using the light table in a variety of ways across different subjects. In our science lessons, students are using translucent objects to explore properties like color, shape, and light. One memorable moment was during our study of colors and mixing. The light table allowed students to experiment with colored filters, watching the way light blended and interacted. It was a visual and engaging way to learn about the science behind colors that wouldn't have been possible without this resource.\r\n\r\nThe Students' Reactions\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials for the light table, their faces lit up with excitement and wonder. They couldn't wait to try them out! They were immediately drawn to the table, eager to explore the materials and start their own experiments. Watching their imaginations run wild as they used the light table for both structured lessons and free play has been a truly heartwarming experience. It's been such a joy to see them more engaged and motivated to learn!\r\n\r\nNext Steps for Students\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I am planning to integrate the light table even further into our lessons. In our upcoming unit on patterns and shapes, students will use the table to manipulate various geometric shapes and build their own patterns, helping them visualize abstract concepts in a hands-on way. I am also excited to incorporate the light table into our literacy activities, where students can trace letters and words with light-up objects, which supports their fine motor skills and letter recognition.\r\n\r\nThis light table is not just a tool—it's a bridge that connects students to deeper, more meaningful learning. Your support has made all of this possible, and we are so grateful.\r\n\r\nI'm so grateful that you chose to support me and my students this year. These students and my future students will now have the opportunity to explore, investigate, design and, redesign with tools that are appropriate to them. These stem tools wouldn't have been available to them without you.","fullyFundedDate":1731510403602,"projectUrl":"project/light-table-manipulatives-encourage-stem/8645706/","projectTitle":"Light Table Manipulatives Encourage STEM Concepts!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cobb","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7660019_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657807803307","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7660019"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35488","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":424,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":74.7,"schoolId":35488,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roosevelt Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roosevelt Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/port-angeles-school-district-121/roosevelt-elementary-school/35488"}
