The wagons are used daily in my class, I use them to bring stuff from the equipment room to the gym and from the gym to the field. Many of my students love to pull the wagon so having a heavy duty wagon is helpful! I am able to put class equipment, a folding chair, my water cup and my clipboard. It has been amazing! I even pre pack the wagon the night before so it is ready to go for me the next day, it has made prepping a lot easier. Thank you for helping make this happen! The jump ropes will be used for our movement unit! Many of my girls choose jump rope because it is non competitive and they can go at their own pace and be next to their friends. It is also challenging and it allows opportunities for everyone to have a good time, regardless of circumstances. I also have lots of them using the rollers for their extended recovery for tight hips, IT band issues or shin splints. There are so many ways to help break down the fascia and make sure the lactic acid that accumulated during a run gets eliminated faster.\r\nStudents especially love the long rollers because they allow rolling out the bigger muscles more comfortably.\r\nThe resistance bands come in handy for hip mobility and strengthening workouts as well as recovery work. They will be of great use when we want to set up multiple courts for our badminton unit and can also be used for additional activity choices when we are outside on the field.\r\nIt always amazes me how many generous people/companies are out there, ready to support their small or big community. One student is the older sister of my student from last year and it has been great to get to know her. She said that she attends because of her brother encouraging her to. She also told me that she mainly attends so that she doesn't have to go home. There is nothing going on at home that is concerning, but as is typical for young teens, she is irritated by her parents. Providing students with a space to be kids is so important. \r\n\r\nBecause of the way our community is designed, students have very few places to meet to have fun. They can go to the mall where they get kicked out for loitering or being energetic kiddos. They can go to each other's houses when permitted. They often meet each other in outside locations. This provides them with a safe, indoor location to hang out and be themselves. Other staff comment on how much patience I must have to handle their chaos. The way I see it is that they deserve the chance to let loose and not hold back. They are loud, but they are being kids and so often, they aren't allowed to do that. It is a safe place to be a kid and that is why I give up two and half hours every week to support this.\r\n\r\nThe snacks are essential as students are with me for 2 or more hours before they ride the bus home. They are ravenous and trust that these snacks have very much been enjoyed. Additionally, some students depend on school lunch to provide all they need throughout the day. Unfortunately, many students won't eat school lunch or are still hungry after eating it due to limited portion sizes. Students often did not arrive to school with supplies so it was really impactful to get these students necessary supplies.
