Welcome to the Pacific Academy study skills and in-school suspension program. Pacific Middle School is a diverse 7th - 8th grade school near the Puget Sound (and the airport) South of Seattle. Highline School District made a strategic shift away from out-of-school suspensions a year and a half ago and funded classrooms like mine to provide re-engagement. We're a preventive, empathy-based teaching and mentoring program that replaces the traditional suspension with two to four days in the Academy. Students working with me split their time between their classroom Teacher's normal assignments and an individualized series of study skills lessons, non-violent communication training, meta-cognitive reflection, goal-setting, and (of course) backpack organizing. We're an award winning program that is proud to serve our students and to consolidate our Academy model of behavior instruction.
