Many of our students come to school carrying challenges that go far beyond academics, and having additional resources available to support their basic needs and emotional wellbeing has been extremely important. This donation has helped create a classroom environment where students feel cared for, supported, motivated, and safe.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful parts of this order has been the food and snack items for students. For some students, school is the place where they are able to consistently access food throughout the day. We have students who arrive hungry in the morning, students who struggle to make it from breakfast to lunch, and students who need additional support to stay focused and regulated during the school day. Having snacks available has helped tremendously. When students are hungry, it can be difficult for them to focus on learning, manage emotions, participate appropriately, or feel comfortable in the classroom. Being able to provide food when a student is struggling or hungry helps meet an immediate need while also showing students that they are cared about and supported.\r\n\r\nThe incentives and reward items included in the DonorsChoose order have also been incredibly beneficial for our students' social emotional development and wellbeing. Many of our students thrive when they have positive goals to work toward and opportunities to experience success. The incentive system has helped encourage positive behavior choices, emotional regulation, responsibility, perseverance, and healthy social interactions with peers and staff. Students become excited and motivated when they are able to earn rewards through hard work, kindness, self-control, or completing academic tasks.\r\n\r\nThese incentives have helped shift the focus toward celebrating growth and positive choices rather than only addressing challenges or behaviors. Students are learning how to set goals, delay gratification, and feel proud of their accomplishments. Even small rewards can make a huge impact on a student who struggles with confidence, emotional regulation, or motivation. The excitement students show when earning something they worked hard for has been wonderful to see and has helped build a more positive classroom culture overall.\r\n\r\nBeyond the individual items themselves, this DonorsChoose order has helped strengthen relationships and trust within our classroom community. Students know they are entering a space where adults care about their needs and want them to succeed both academically and emotionally. The support provided through this donation has helped us create a classroom environment focused on compassion, encouragement, growth, and connection.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for the generosity and kindness that made this possible. This donation has gone far beyond providing supplies, it has directly impacted students' daily experiences, emotional wellbeing, motivation, and ability to learn. The positive effects are seen every single day in our classroom, and we sincerely appreciate the support given to our students and school community.","fullyFundedDate":1769178138183,"projectUrl":"project/feeding-growth/9894830/","projectTitle":"Feeding Growth!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schnell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8833832"},{"teacherId":3711401,"projectId":9606083,"letterContent":"I cannot express how thankful I am for your contribution to class's set of The Hunger Games. Thanks to your donation, we now have an ample amount of headphones in our classroom, which allows students to:\r\n- listen to audiobooks \r\n- have an article or book read to them on the computer\r\n- listen or watch videos that are part of our lesson or activity\r\n- listen to parts of an interactive lesson\r\n- hear audio texts or other verbal prompts during testing\r\n\r\nHaving enough working headphones for all the above made such a huge difference at the end of last year and continues to make a difference at the start of this current school year.
