Plus, these positive relationships often make it easier to talk with students about work as well, making the impact even more impressive and important. Since I've incorporated these texts and supplies into class, I've seen more students checking out books and more students crafting/getting involved with group activities in class. It's been nice to incorporate more silent activities for my room as we've moved to a no phone policy; having a wide variety of activities and books in the room makes it a lot easier to engage students with other activities besides staring at their screens.
