Ever since your materials arrived, we have been able to incorporate hands-on learning in class everyday. Sometimes students are physically modeling word problems using unifix cubes, other times they are playing a math game to reinforce fact fluency with dice and playing cards, other times I am using base ten blocks to demonstrate how we regroup as we change place value. All this hands-on work is leading to a deeper understanding of math and a love for it. The games are obviously the students' favorite way to use the resources, but in many ways, they're also the most effective because the kids get so excited and interested in their learning. It is such a generous thing to donate to a group of kids you've never met. Please know that it matters- you've helped make school a more positive and successful place for these kids.","fullyFundedDate":1763615800497,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-math-for-tiny-mathematicians/9852471/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Math for Tiny Mathematicians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kribbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp16261_orig.jpg?crop=273,273,x699,y217&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599424147716","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kribbs"},{"teacherId":16261,"projectId":9839656,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to our school. Kindergarten can be such a hard transition- our youngest learners come from a range of background experiences. Some have been in full day care since infancy and others have been at home with their families every day before they enter the classroom. That big change can feel so scary. One of the most important pieces of building a kindergarten is thinking about how to make students feel comfortable, cared for, seen and heard. Seeing our students try to wear large, heavy, tight headphones that turned their ears pink and even made some cry broke my heart. Now, thanks to you, they are comfortable. Each student got to pick out their favorite color of squishy, light, headphones designed with small kids in mind. Our students are now comfortable and engaged in learning. What a kindness to see this need and respond so quickly.","fullyFundedDate":1764619484201,"projectUrl":"project/help-teacher-my-ears-hurt/9839656/","projectTitle":"Help Teacher- My Ears Hurt!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kribbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp16261_orig.jpg?crop=273,273,x699,y217&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599424147716","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kribbs"},{"teacherId":7520707,"projectId":9712075,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating allergy friendly snacks to our Preschool classroom. One moment that really stuck with me was watching a student who usually needs a lot of support sit down and work through an activity on their own and actually enjoy it. The materials make learning feel more hands-on and accessible, and I've noticed students staying engaged longer and feeling more confident explaining their thinking.\r\n\r\nWhen the kids first saw the materials, their faces lit up. A few of them asked, \"Are these really for us?\" and were so excited to try everything out. There was a lot of pride right away they were careful with the materials and reminded each other to take care of them. It meant a lot to see them realize that people cared enough to help our classroom, in a South Seattle Title 1 school in such a real way.\r\n\r\nNext up, we'll keep using these resources to support what we're already learning, especially with problem-solving and building independence. The kids are starting to take more ownership of their learning, and it's been really special to watch that growth. Thank you for giving our students this opportunity and for being a part of our classroom in this way it truly means more than you know.","fullyFundedDate":1750869764842,"projectUrl":"project/pouring-back-into-the-community-that-rai/9424478/","projectTitle":"Pouring Back Into the Community That Raised Me","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10060216_orig.png?crop=239,239,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750645825507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10060216"},{"teacherId":9430395,"projectId":8954872,"letterContent":"Students are using headphones to help access important literacy tests like DIBELS and new and exciting gamified math content (coding games, SuccessMaker, and more!) as well as iReady reading lessons differentiated and personalized to their exact needs! There is loud laughter each time we bring out the boomsticks and the students lead the class in a silly move and beat. Students also love doing 'Tambourine Magic' on youtube and Baby Shark with their rhythmn sticks. We were also able to incorporate music into our spring chick unit with egg shaker song and dances.\r\n\r\nWe have had a few instruments break from curious and rough hands, but thanks to your generous donation, we still have enough to go around!
