Teachers created large-format, visually rich posters using the classroom poster printer to introduce and reinforce key science concepts like gravity, magnetism, and motion. These posters, aligned with GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) strategies, support students by pairing academic vocabulary with clear visuals, helping MLLs access complex ideas and build understanding in both science and language.\r\n\r\n During our science unit on magnets and forces, teachers designed pictorial input charts, anchor visuals, and interactive word walls that were printed and displayed throughout the classroom. These posters became essential tools for instruction—providing students with repeated exposure to core concepts like \"attract,\" \"repel,\" \"touching,\" and \"non-touching\" in both English and their home language when possible. Students came in on the first day to their own book bins and pencils pouches. Their bins are now storing some impressive student work and pencil pouches are full of our class money that students earn throughout the day. \r\n\r\nThe dry erase markers, colored pencils, and sentence strips have allowed us to engage in a variety of activities. Tables are working on group projects to make our classroom more beautiful, requiring lots of coloring. We used sentences strips just last week to write a class argument about why a blackout might happen.
