With funding cuts and being part of a large school district, our science budget is minimal for getting materials that help student understand and be inspire with hands-on experiences. We often have to default to a demo with one set of materials or a video.\r\n\r\nWhen students used the green laser to make the radiometer move, I could audibly here students gasp in wonder. Previously, I only had one radiometer with a broken base. I had to hold it at the front of the class and use a large heat lamp. Students were not able to experience this first hand and many were left with the misconception that heat from the lamp caused it to move. With the laser (that does not get warm) and radiometer right in front of them it was like magic. These experiences may relate to the experiences of students themselves and/or their families. By having it stocked up, I am able to provide them with necessities so they can return to class ready to go. \r\n\r\n When I introduce the hygiene cart, my students are surprised by all the different items I have for them. From toothbrushes to combs to chapstick to tampons, they can come and get what they need. This helps students to feel confident in their bodies, which then lets them focus on learning. \r\n\r\n Thank you very much for seeing the importance of having a hygiene cart available for students. That being said, my students love having snacks and I love having healthier snack options for them. \r\n\r\n My students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and most qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch. This means that they may come to school hungry.
