My classes are always bursting at the seams (sometimes enrolled beyond capacity) as students are hungry for hands-on opportunities to express themselves through art.\r\n\r\nWith over 400 students per year and no designated art budget, finding sufficient materials is always a struggle. I cannot thank you enough for your donation to our program and I'd love to share some images of the projects your generosity made possible.\r\n\r\nWe used *both sides!* of the linocut blocks for our wildly popular printmaking unit in which students carved an image that represents a hidden aspect of their personality. We were able to stretch the printing inks and use them for an additional 3-color monoprint exercise using recycled cereal boxes. We use the X-Acto blades constantly, most recently to create beautiful notan collages and cardboard sculptures. I hope you enjoy these photos knowing that it was YOU who made these artworks a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1764739560047,"projectUrl":"project/basic-supplies-for-hs-art/9661539/","projectTitle":"Basic Supplies for HS Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6352147_orig.jpg?crop=1932,1932,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1671738059207","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6352147"},{"teacherId":10277201,"projectId":9754963,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding hella snacks for our Latinx Studies and Filipinx Studies students. Each time we used the old sensors, students wasted so much time troubleshooting the equipment, having to switch out cables or sensors or interfaces just to get reasonable graphs. And even then, it was hard for students to draw conclusions from data when they weren't sure the data were reliable. Thank you so much for helping to remove this barrier to learning. These plug-and-play motion sensors have greatly simplified the setup for students and have made exploring concepts much more accessible and less frustrating. Now that students aren't busy trying to figure out why data \"look weird,\" they are able to have richer conversations about the physics principles and focus on building shared understanding instead.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your generosity in supporting our science department and in helping to prepare our students for futures in STEM fields.","fullyFundedDate":1760659890631,"projectUrl":"project/keep-physics-students-hands-and-minds-m/9729769/","projectTitle":"Keep Physics Students' Hands and Minds Moving With Motion Sensors","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp680050_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758242444831","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/680050"},{"teacherId":3100211,"projectId":9639264,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating whiteboards and other materials to our math classroom! \r\nBecause of your generous donations, we have been able to afford a number of resources for our classroom that help students engage with their math in an interactive and fun way. Your support has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our students, and I'm excited to share just how much these new books are already enriching our learning.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors love to read but may not know how a book like Sapiens fits into the work we do with students. In class, this text helps us build several key skills and understandings. Students are practicing close reading of complex nonfiction, analyzing how an author constructs an argument, and evaluating the evidence used to support big historical claims. Sapiens also sparks conversations about anthropology, human behavior, and the interconnectedness of societies—topics that naturally encourage critical thinking, respectful debate, and curiosity about the wider world.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and collaborative. Students annotate as they read, track themes, discuss interpretations in small groups, and connect the text to current events and other materials we study. We also use structured reading routines—like questioning the text, identifying patterns, and writing brief reflections—to help students move from simply understanding the content to analyzing its deeper significance.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have shown a particular enthusiasm for these new books. One student who often gravitates toward science fiction has been fascinated by the evolutionary history described in the early chapters and has been asking thoughtful, complex questions. Another student, typically a reluctant reader, has been energized by the book's conversational style and now participates eagerly in discussions. Moments like these remind us how access to the right book at the right time can transform a student's engagement with learning.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made these moments possible.
