My Project My students need graphing calculators to be successful on tests and collaborative classwork in Algebra 2. It is of utmost importance that each student can access their own calculator so that they can engage during class. My instruction leads students to: 1) Gain proficiency and accuracy in the necessary algebra skills and 2) Be able to interpret and decide which skills they will need to use. We need graphing calculators so that all students can meet these goals. The only thing that is lacking here is funding. I inherited 18 calculators when I started working in this classroom, and some of these calculators are starting to malfunction and the buttons are being rubbed off! My largest class has 34 students, so we're 16 calculators short (not counting a teacher calculator). There is no funding to replace this necessary piece of technology and our students do not have the resources to purchase their own. We need this resource so that all students have an opportunity to practice the skills that will prepare them for college-level math (Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics).
