We will do our lessons in this environment for a few weeks. \r\n\r\nAt the end of the math cycle, we will celebrate all their hard work and also hopefully they will meet their learning target for this cycle. The food that looked like their food from home and the texture squares inspired their curiosity, and the sequence cards and listening centers have furthered their growth in English Language Development.\r\n\r\nWhen the pretend food, texture squares, and language center arrived, I set everything out on our tables before the students came in. Watching them discover the materials was a great reminder that something real to hold makes all the difference — and you could see it on their faces. Through the tangible act of squeezing the play fruits and vegetables and pressing fingertips into the Teachable Touchables texture squares, we are creating a bank of words that adds power to their vocabulary, and as they express themselves in English, they are able to be clearer and deeper with their language. \r\n\r\nRight now, we are in the middle of a describing unit where students use the play food to practice color, shape, size, and texture words in conversation with each other. The next step is moving from the concrete to the abstract — using Sequence & Write Story Tiles to take the words they have practiced out loud and transfer them to pictures, sentences, and eventually short written descriptions. For many of my students, that bridge from spoken language to written language is one of the most important journeys they will take this year.\r\n\r\nMy students are developing a superpower — the ability to move through the world in more than one language. You helped equip them for that journey in a real and lasting way. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing that every child deserves the tools to describe, connect, and belong.","fullyFundedDate":1770917211964,"projectUrl":"project/describing-in-english/10033266/","projectTitle":"Describing in English","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp267940_orig.jpg?crop=1821,1821,x158,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588019819058","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/desiree-hall"},{"teacherId":2324472,"projectId":9538260,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our project! From the very first moment they saw the materials, my students were filled with excitement and curiosity. They eagerly rushed to try them out, and their faces lit up as they realized they could build and write complete sentences all on their own. \r\n\r\nThese materials are not only supporting their writing but are also opening doors for growth in speaking and overall English language development. The pocket charts and sentence strips give my students a hands-on, interactive way to practice, making the learning process both engaging and effective. We are currently using the magnetic strips and charts to practice writing full sentences with nouns and verbs, and it has been incredible to see their confidence grow as they take steps to writing independently. One special moment that stands out was when a student created her very first sentence and was able to read and write it by herself. \r\n\r\nThese resources have already transformed the way we learn and practice English in our classroom and allow my students to truly connect with the lessons. Moving forward, we plan to continue using the materials to expand beyond simple sentences and adding describing words and writing short paragraphs.\r\n\r\n Your generosity has opened the door for endless opportunities for growth, and I am deeply grateful for the way you are helping my students develop their English language skills with excitement and pride.","fullyFundedDate":1749137995773,"projectUrl":"project/sentences-are-awesome/9144271/","projectTitle":"Sentences Are Awesome!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp267940_orig.jpg?crop=1821,1821,x158,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588019819058","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/desiree-hall"},{"teacherId":574254,"projectId":9148442,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our project, \"Pollinators All Around\". The students were able to read them and use them to create drawings and get information to add to their notebooks.\r\n\r\n The students eyes lit up when they entered the room and saw we had live ladybugs and butterfly chrysalis to observe. They all wanted to see them and take care of them. Each day they would run into class excited to see what changes had happened. \r\n\r\n We also received preserved bugs. The students really enjoyed looking at the bugs and finding out the names of them. The supplies you donated inspired my students to guide their own learning. They were inspired to learn more about the things they were interested in which may have been a specific pollinator or how pollination works.
