My 6th graders and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and belief in their success. They cheered with glee when the headphones arrived! It was like a shiny new toy that they wanted to preserve forever! These students care deeply about these headphones; you can see how well they take care of them. These are not just any headphones; for my students at a Title 1 school, they represent a message that their education matters, and kind strangers chose to invest in them anyway. This means the world to them. \r\n\r\nSince day one with these headphones, you can feel the shift in energy in our classroom. Students have access to technology that helps them focus fully during independent math practice time. They shifted to being focused, calm, and productive in a way that is sometimes impossible in a room always full of energetic 6th graders. Students who rely on read-aloud features or need a space to zone in and focus can do so now with privacy and confidence. Our MLL students who need translations can now access the material without feeling any pressure from students around them. \r\n\r\nYou gave them focus, independence, and the proof that people out there believe in their future and success. Sometimes there are days when we can feel a bit overwhelmed, especially in our world today. However, your generosity is a reminder that kindness is still out there, and teachers and students are not alone. We are a community committed to bringing each other up.\r\n\r\nWe are grateful beyond what words can hold. When my students walked in and saw the new lighting options, their excitement was palpable. For those with accommodations for migraines, the lighting now provides a more comfortable and conducive environment for learning. Every day, my classroom serves as a safe haven where students can escape overstimulation.\r\n\r\nStudents from previous years have returned to express their appreciation for the safe and cozy atmosphere. This positive impact has inspired other teachers to explore different lighting solutions for their classes. My current students know that their concerns, needs, and feedback are taken seriously, and they enjoy the responsibility of using lamps at their desks if they need a bit more light.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, I've seen how the new lighting positively influences students' learning experiences. They can focus on their work without feeling stressed or overwhelmed, even when working independently. Students have also shared that the lights help them feel cheerful, especially during the Pacific Northwest rainy season.\r\n\r\nOverall, my students couldn't be happier and are immensely grateful to the donors who made this safe space a reality, particularly for those with specific lighting needs.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1758844514751,"projectUrl":"project/help-create-a-relaxing-safe-environment/9547662/","projectTitle":"Help Create a Relaxing, Safe Environment to Accommodate Learning Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harvey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7147370_orig.png?crop=830,830,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1583253652263","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7147370"},{"teacherId":7147370,"projectId":9494417,"letterContent":"I am sincerely grateful for the materials you provided, which have helped create a community in my classroom where students can develop conversational skills in a risk-free environment. My students are using these resources to achieve success, and it's been rewarding to see them eagerly choose board games over misusing computers for games during inappropriate times.\r\n\r\nOur multilingual students especially appreciate the opportunity to practice their English speaking skills. For beginning-level English learners, the thumbs-up signs have empowered them to participate in group discussions, making them feel seen and heard.\r\n\r\nStudents are now tracking their own class points to earn game time, which has enhanced focus and fostered a positive community culture in the classroom. We work together to have fun and learn. Additionally, students justify why they deserve points each day, contributing to a \"Fun Friday,\" and their reasoning skills have significantly improved.\r\n\r\nWe cannot express enough gratitude. You truly came through for us in the best way. With our school's new no airpods policy, this class set of headphones couldn't have arrived at a better time. They've quickly become one of the most used and most loved tools in our room! Students plug in for independent reading, use translation and read aloud features to access texts and assignments and even use the extension cords to stay charged and productive all period long.\r\n\r\nIt's been so rewarding to see students who normally struggle with focus/access light up when they realize to an assignment being read aloud or use translation to understand something fully. The headphones have leveled the playing field in a real way and have raised the bar for self-strategizing for focus. It also doesn't hurt that the organization bags also keep things neat, which is nothing short of miracle in a middle school classroom filled with 30+ kids.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to give, without knowing us personally.
