We introduced the A Little SPOT of Feelings book set and Mini Emotion Plush Toys during our morning meetings to help students learn to identify and express their emotions. Each day, we choose a \"Feeling of the Day\" and use the plush toys to act out different scenarios. It's been heartwarming to see how engaged and empathetic the children are when they connect stories from the books to their own experiences. The emotions coin drop has also become a favorite in our calming corner as it gives students a hands-on way to regulate and name their feelings before rejoining the group.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They were immediately drawn to the colorful plush toys and couldn't wait to explore the emotion coins. Many of them eagerly shared which plush best represented how they were feeling that day. The art supplies and adaptive scissors have also inspired creative expression, students have been using them to create \"feeling collages\" and crafts that connect to our social-emotional lessons.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be expanding our lessons by incorporating the dramatic play vests into role-playing scenarios. Students will take turns acting out community helper roles and problem-solving situations that connect to feelings like kindness, frustration, and cooperation. These new materials are helping us create a more compassionate, expressive, and joyful classroom where every student feels seen and supported.","fullyFundedDate":1755737771215,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-art/9588066/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big Art!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Clara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9428677_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704751851440","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9428677"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35735","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":534,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.1,"schoolId":35735,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Alpac Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Alpac Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/auburn-school-district-408/alpac-elementary-school/35735"}
