Currently, our students have utilized our new resources during weekly check ins with me, their school counselor and to deescalate situations where students may be emotional and unable to cope with certain emotions. For example, one of my students regularly using the canopy and calm down techniques on the pillows to calm himself down and process the emotions he is feeling. The feelings pillow also help the students understand emotions that they may not be used to at this age such as embarrassment or confusion. \r\nWhen the students first saw our new materials, they were intrigued, especially by the canopy tent and grass wall. Many have described the room as \"calming\" and parents who have visited have given many compliments as it makes our School Counseling office more inviting and calming for our students! The coping skill pillows always show students new ways to manage their feelings and give them an opportunity to act out these coping skills on their own! I plan to continue to utilize these resources to help students understand their feelings and practice emotional regulation! He talks with his dad about how the new boy is his enemy and they will never become friends. His helps him by giving him the recipe for \"enemy pie\". It was such a great lesson about friendship, honesty, character traits, and self awareness. My kids were so excited when they saw the big package with the stools arrive. Everyone wanted to help open them! After we got the packaging off, my kids immediately set them up around the table and tested them out. It was a big thumbs up from everyone who tried one out! \r\n\r\nThe impact of the stools on my small group instruction was immediate. I was easily able to fit 8 (sometimes 9!) kids around my table which made it possible to use my time more effectively. I am now able to teach more kids at one time for small group! And with such a big class, this is so helpful. Also, the kids love sitting on a stool instead of a chair, so they are more motivated to come to the table for instruction. Thank you Ripple for your extra support in this! \r\n\r\nAdditionally, we found a great use for the felt squares as erasers for our dry erase boards. The scarves were used for my dance fitness unit where students learned a fun way to move their body. The cones get used every day to mark start/ stop locations, boundaries and even obstacles!
