One of my goals for this year has been to limit student use of Chromebooks, so I am requiring more classwork to be completed on paper. With that in mind, students are keeping their handouts from day to day in the folders you provided. I offer students a choice in color and style of folder.\r\n\r\nNot only do your folders help students keep track of their work from my class, but I offer the folders to students who need a folder for any class. I've worked with students to take all of their loose papers out of their backpacks and put the papers in folders. This helps students feel confident about school because they are more prepared for each lesson. \r\n\r\nAnother key benefit of the folders is that students are not stopped in the secruity line because the paper folders you donated do not set off the metal detectors.","fullyFundedDate":1743607411532,"projectUrl":"project/file-folders-and-pocket-folders/9218268/","projectTitle":"File Folders and Pocket Folders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Secrest","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-secrest"},{"teacherId":2110755,"projectId":9520146,"letterContent":"I am sincerely grateful for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project - \"Helping Teens Learn, Earn and Stay Well\". Additionally, having tissues and hand sanitizer available means students miss less instructional time and are able to stay on task and can concentrate more on learning.\r\n\r\nWe used the snacks as rewards to celebrate students passing each quarter. These treats provided extra motivation and joy, encouraging the students to continue their hard work.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful donation has transformed our classroom environment and learning experience. With the new chart paper, pens, pencils, and Post-it notes, my students are engaging more actively in their learning. Recently, during a group brainstorming session on a novel, students used chart paper to visually map out their ideas collaboratively, sparking lively discussions and deeper understanding. The Post-it notes have been a game-changer for organizing thoughts and encouraging every student to contribute, turning what used to be passive listening into dynamic participation.\r\nWhen the students first saw the supplies, their excitement was palpable—they eagerly reached for the materials and immediately began experimenting with the new tools. This enthusiasm has carried over into our dystopian project, where students use chart paper and Post-its to create interactive timelines and categorize historical events within short stories. The next steps involve them synthesizing their findings into written reports, using the pens and pencils to express their ideas clearly. These resources have truly empowered my students to take ownership of their learning and collaborate more effectively.","fullyFundedDate":1742949006305,"projectUrl":"project/building-blocks-for-learning-providing/9098392/","projectTitle":"Building Blocks for Learning: Providing Essential Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reid","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8942114_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738700909613","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8942114"},{"teacherId":263160,"projectId":8990470,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my students with this project. Something as simple as a granola bar or a healthy snack has made a huge difference in their ability to concentrate and engage in lessons.\r\n\r\nOne of the most heartwarming moments came when a student, who often struggles to stay awake after working a long shift, grabbed a snack and said, \"This is exactly what I needed to make it through the night.\" It's small, but it matters. This year, that laptop has been a crucial tool for guiding my students on their journey toward brighter futures.\r\n\r\nIn particular, it has been invaluable during our college and career readiness activities. Students have used it to research colleges that match their aspirations, complete applications (some meeting tight deadlines!), and even explore financial aid options. For many of them, this process felt overwhelming at first, but having reliable access to technology made it manageable—and empowering.\r\n\r\nBeyond college applications, the laptop has also been a key resource for career exploration and resume building.
